Join us in Homer, Alaska, "The Halibut Fishing Capital of the World!" for a taste of the finest fishing Alaska has to offer. Fishing from Homer allows access to 2500 square miles of the world's finest sightseeing, whale-watching, bird-viewing, and of course, FISHING!
When you join us, you'll be fishing aboard the 32' diesel-powered Grand Aleutian, one of Alaska's most luxurious sportfishers. The Grand Aleutian features a heated cabin and restroom, large fishing deck, top quality electronics and safety equipment, Cummins diesel power, and an exceptional array of fishing tackle.
Fishing is at its peak May through September, and catching fish is the norm, not the exception! The average day's limit of 2 halibut easily yields 20 lbs of fillets, worth over $300 if bought from a fish market.
The Grand Aleutian's owner and captain is lifelong Alaskan resident David Bayes. Utilizing a degree in Biological Sciences and a passion for fishing, David has quickly carved out a niche amongst the competitive Homer fishing fleet, and is well known as a top fisherman. Elected by his peers as a board member of both the Alaska Charter and Homer Charter Associations, Capt. David takes great pride in his business and the services he provides. During the off-season, Capt. David works with local boat builders constructing custom sportfishers and work boats, or heads south to operate offshore charter boats in the Florida Keys.
Check out the What To Bring and Homer, AK pages for tips on how to package and ship your fish, motion-sickness prevention, travel to Homer, lodging, restaurants, and on-shore activities.
Call today to speak directly with Captain David about turning your Alaskan vacation into the fishing trip of a lifetime!
Release A Beast! Any angler who chooses to release a halibut over 250lbs will receive a complimentary fishing trip aboard the Grand Aleutian as a thank you from Capt. David and the DeepStrike Sportfishing. Weight will be determined in the water by measurement(must be over 77").
